Layering sheers with blackout for day and night
Pair sheer curtains with blackout shades or drapes for soft daylight and privacy by day, and a fully dark room at night.
One window treatment rarely does everything. Layering lets each piece do one job well.
The usual setup
- Back layer: a blackout roller shade or blackout curtain for night.
- Front layer: a sheer curtain for daytime glare control and privacy.
Double tracks
For curtains on both layers, we install a double track so each layer opens and closes on its own. With motorized tracks, one button can close the sheers at sunrise and the blackout at bedtime.
Choosing colours
White and ivory sheers keep rooms bright. A blackout layer in a slightly darker tone adds depth. We bring fabric samples so you can see both layers against your walls and floors.
